Why you should wake up early in the morning

It is said that waking up early is a good habit: let’s discover why

“The first hour of the day, is the rudder of the day”, Henry Ward Beecher said. Waking up early in the morning is a good habit for our mind, our health and our humor.

Especially in the first days, it may be difficult to set the alarm ahead, but once our body gets used to it, we will immediately appreciate the benefits.

Waking up earlier means having more time, which may be used for activities that benefit both mental and physical health.

For example, waking up earlier allows us to prepare a healthier and more balanced breakfast. Last minute wake ups, instead, can be threatening because of the risk of eating processed foods such as snacks, or even worst, of not eating breakfast. At this point, it should be remembered that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and if not consumed properly it may negatively affect how and what we eat during the other meals of the day.

Moreover, having a little free time before going to work is a good way to practice some sport. Early morning trainings give us an extra boost of energy, useful to start every day in the best way.

Waking up early also improves the concentration level because the morning is the moment in which the brain is most active. As a consequence, it will be easier to conclude any kind of activity.

To wake up early it is essential to set a proper sleep cycle by sleeping the appropriate number of hours and by going to sleep every day at the same time. Having a routine allows us to improve sleep quality and waking up more rested.

To conclude, several studies showed that people who wake up early have less possibilities to suffer of cardiovascular pathologies and type 2 diabetes. Going to sleep late at night contributes to an unhealthier lifestyle, increasing the consumption of irregular meals, too many energetic drinks and caffeine.
